Counselling
Sometimes what you bring relates to identity – coming out, gender, transition, faith and culture, family acceptance, or living between worlds. Often it doesn’t: queer people get anxious, burnt out, grieve and struggle in relationships like everyone else. Either way, you deserve support that affirms who you are rather than treating it as the problem.
Our approach is affirming, trauma-informed and grounded in evidence-based therapies including CBT, ACT and relational approaches. We understand the real effects of discrimination, family rejection, homophobia and transphobia on mental health – and we know that your identity is not a disorder.
Low-cost counselling because support should be accessible to all. Individual sessions $80-$120.
You can book directly. If you have a referral, it can help your counsellor support you.
Individual counselling sessions are available for 60 or 90 minutes.
Visit us in Preston, Melbourne, or connect by telehealth from anywhere in Australia.
Medicare does not currently provide rebates for counsellors under the Mental Health Care Plan. If you would like Medicare-rebated sessions with a clinical psychologist, ask us about a Mental Health Care Plan referral from your GP.
Process
You call or fill out our form. Tell us what's happening and what you need. We listen without judgment and answer your questions about how we work.
We meet and talk through your situation in detail. This helps us understand your challenges and decide on the best approach for you moving forward.
You attend regular sessions where we develop strategies and skills tailored to your needs. Between sessions, you practise what you've learned in daily life.
As you gain confidence and tools, sessions may reduce in frequency. You'll always have access to support when you need it, whether that's months or years later.
Our counselling team includes counsellors who are LGBTQIA+ themselves and counsellors deeply embedded in queer communities. If it matters to you to work with a queer counsellor specifically, tell us when you book and we’ll match you.
No. Conversion practices are harmful and are banned in Victoria. Our counselling is affirming: your sexuality and gender are not problems to be fixed, and we will never treat them as such.
Absolutely. You don’t need a label, a certainty or a crisis. Counselling is a good place to explore questions at your own pace, with no agenda about where you should land.
Yes. We offer relationship counselling for couples and we welcome LGBTQIA+ relationships and non-traditional relationship structures. See our relationship counselling page or ask us when booking.
Individual counselling is $80-$120 per session. No GP referral is needed, and telehealth is available Australia-wide if you’d prefer not to attend in person.
