FAQs

Common questions about medico legal assessments and the process.

What is a medico-legal assessment?

A medico legal assessment is a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation conducted for legal purposes. It documents cognitive and psychological functioning in a manner suitable for court proceedings. The assessment helps establish facts relevant to the legal matter at hand.

Who typically needs this assessment?

Individuals involved in personal injury claims, workers compensation cases, or disputes regarding capacity often require medico legal assessment. Lawyers and courts use these evaluations to understand the extent of injury or impairment. Insurance companies may also request assessments to verify claims

How long does the assessment take?

Most medico legal assessments require four to six hours of testing time. Some complex cases may need additional sessions. The neuropsychologist will discuss the timeline during your initial consultation.

Are the reports admissible in court?

Yes, our reports are prepared to meet legal standards and withstand cross examination. Our neuropsychologists are experienced in providing expert testimony. All assessments follow established professional guidelines

What happens after the assessment?

A detailed written report is prepared within two to three weeks of testing. The report includes findings, interpretations, and conclusions relevant to the legal questions. You receive a copy for your legal representative

Can I bring someone to the assessment?

For most medico legal assessments, you attend alone to ensure test validity. However, we can discuss your specific situation during the booking process. Some preliminary appointments may allow a support person.

What if I disagree with the findings?

Our assessments are based on objective testing and professional interpretation. You have the right to seek a second opinion from another neuropsychologist. The legal process allows for independent expert review.

How much does it cost?

Costs vary depending on the complexity and type of assessment required. Please visit our Fees & rebates page for detailed pricing information. We can provide an estimate once we understand your specific needs.

Will Medicare cover the assessment?

Medicare coverage depends on the specific circumstances and referral type. Some assessments may be covered under certain conditions. Contact us to discuss your eligibility and potential rebates

How do I book an assessment?

Contact us through our Contact us page or call directly to discuss your case. We will gather information about the legal matter and assessment requirements. Once details are confirmed, we schedule your appointment.
