Learn how to respond to mental health crises with confidence.
Invictus Health’s Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses in-person and online are designed to be more than “tick-the-box” training.
Our courses are practical, evidence-based and led by facilitators who live and breathe equity, inclusion and real-world mental health support.
Mental Health First Aid is the mental wellbeing counterpart of physical first aid. Both are extremely important and applications of both can save a life.
Our Mental Health First Aid Training Course (MHFA) teaches participants how to assist people who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves, and where necessary, to professional medical support.
Additionally the course encourages and facilitates the spread of mental health awareness.
MHFA equips you and your team with a clear, evidence-based action plan for recognising, approaching and supporting someone in a mental health crisis — until professional help is received or the crisis resolves.
You’ll leave with practical scripts, structured tools and a deeper understanding of how culture, identity and systemic barriers impact mental health.
Beyond the certificate, participants consistently report greater confidence in having mental health conversations, reduced stigma in their workplace or community, and a stronger sense of how to connect people to the right support early.
Invictus offers MHFA training in two modes:
Both options meet Mental Health First Aid Australia requirements and lead to a digital certificate of completion, with pathways to MHFA accreditation.
Courses are typically delivered over two days, 9.00am–4.00pm, with refreshments provided and breaks throughout to support learning and self-care.
For organisations, Invictus can deliver on-site in your workplace or via interactive online sessions to suit multiple locations and rosters.
Across the two-day course (or equivalent blended format), you will learn how to recognise, respond to and support people experiencing:
You will practise a clear, evidence-based action plan for approaching, listening, responding and connecting someone to professional help or other supports until the crisis resolves.
Invictus trainers weave in intersectional examples – like how racism, homophobia, transphobia, migration, disability or gendered violence shape mental health – so your skills are genuinely relevant to the people you support.
Every participant receives:
Most MHFA providers teach you the manual; Invictus trainers connect the manual to real people, real workplaces and real identities.
Our MHFA instructors are mental health counsellors and psychologists, as well as people with lived experience of mental health challenges, who are migrants and/or LGBTQIA+ and/or neurodivergent, and who work every day with multicultural, queer and intersectional communities.
This combination of clinical skill and lived experience means your team learns how to support the whole person – not just a diagnosis.
To book a public MHFA course, contact us about upcoming dates to secure your place – spots are limited to keep groups small, safe and interactive.
To organise MHFA for your workplace or organisation:
Equip yourself and your team with MHFA skills taught by trainers who understand intersectionality and bring both professional expertise and lived experience to the room – and help build a workplace and community where people are seen, respected and supported early.
