A comprehensive Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessment helps identify how attention, impulsivity, and executive functioning affect daily life.
ADHD stands for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. It’s a neurodevelopmental condition where the brain processes information and manages impulses differently than the typical pattern.
Think of it as a difference in how your brain’s control system operates, affecting attention span, impulse management, and the ability to organise thoughts and actions.
Feeling constantly mentally overloaded, even when managing daily responsibilities well.
Strong emotional reactions to stress, criticism, or perceived rejection.
Avoiding tasks due to high standards and fear of not doing them “right.”
Periods of intense concentration followed by difficulty focusing on routine tasks.
Strong emotional reactions to stress, criticism, or perceived rejection.
Hiding struggles by over-compensating, staying agreeable, or appearing highly organised.
Difficulty sitting still, frequent fidgeting, or constant movement.
Acting or speaking without thinking through consequences.
Starting tasks with enthusiasm but struggling to finish them.
Becoming easily irritated or overwhelmed when blocked or bored.
Losing track of time or underestimating how long tasks will take.
Fluctuating productivity despite ability, effort, or motivation.

A comprehensive Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessment helps identify how attention, impulsivity, and executive functioning affect daily life.
We assess children, adolescents, and adults using a combination of clinical interviews, behavioural observations, and performance-based testing. The process may include:
An ADHD Assessment at Invictus Health may include some or all of the following components:
Yes. Many adults go undiagnosed in childhood due to masking or differences in how symptoms present. Many seek assessment after recognising patterns that affect their work, relationships or daily functioning.
A diagnosis later in life can offer powerful insights, reduce self-blame and help access supports that improve quality of life.
ADHD involves differences in attention regulation and impulse control, while autism spectrum disorder affects social communication and sensory processing. Some individuals have both conditions. Assessment distinguishes between them through specific testing protocols.
Medication is one option, not a requirement. After assessment, we discuss all available approaches including behavioral strategies, workplace accommodations, and therapeutic support. Your GP or psychiatrist makes medication decisions based on your needs.
You receive a detailed written report within two weeks of completing your assessment. We can arrange a follow-up consultation to discuss findings, diagnosis, and recommendations in detail.
Yes. ADHD is often identified in adulthood, particularly in women whose symptoms may have been overlooked during childhood. Many adults seek assessment after recognizing patterns that affect their work, relationships, or daily functioning.
ADHD shows up differently for everyone. You might struggle to start tasks despite wanting to, lose track of time during work, or find your mind wandering in conversations. Some people fidget constantly or interrupt without thinking. Others appear calm but battle internal restlessness. The common thread is that executive function—the brain’s ability to plan, organize, and follow through—doesn’t work the way it does for most people.
Yes, you will receive a detailed written report summarising the findings, including a diagnosis if applicable, as well as various supports and interventions recommended by our clinician. This report can be used to access educational support, workplace accommodations, NDIS funding, or simply to better understand yourself or your child.
Yes, you can. Many individuals show traits of both Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and it’s common for the two to co-occur.
A combined assessment explores both areas in depth, helping to understand overlapping traits as well as the unique features of each. The process may involve additional assessment tools or slightly longer sessions to ensure an accurate and comprehensive understanding.
