Most private clinics do not publish a price at all. Of those that do, the range for an adult neuropsychological assessment runs from about $1,800 to $3,600. Two things set us apart at that price. First, we see most people within 2 to 3 weeks, where many clinics and public services have waits of months. Second, every neuropsychology report is reviewed by a senior clinical neuropsychologist before it leaves the building.<\/p>\n<h2>Why a neuropsychological assessment costs more than a therapy session<\/h2>\n<p>A clinical neuropsychologist is a registered psychologist with extra postgraduate training in how the brain relates to thinking and behaviour. The <a href=\"https:\/\/groups.psychology.org.au\/ccn\/about_us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">APS College of Clinical Neuropsychologists<\/a> describes this as at least six years of full-time university study plus supervised practice. There are only about 1,000 psychologists in Australia with this endorsement, so their time is scarce.<\/p>\n<p>An assessment is also a different product from a therapy hour. You are paying for a document that may decide an NDIS application, a return to work, a court matter, or whether someone can manage their own money. It has to stand up to scrutiny from the NDIA, insurers, lawyers and judges. That takes time to get right.<\/p>\n<h2>Who else can pay<\/h2>\n<p>Many people never pay the fee themselves.
